Des Moines IA Historic Spoon, Hawkeye State Souvenir Spoon, Civil War Historical Gift, Sterling Silver Soldiers and Sailors Monument, 2515
$75.00
This antique sterling silver souvenir spoon celebrates Des Moines, Iowa, with the bowl reading “Des Moines, IA” and “Soldiers and Sailors Monument,” along with a detailed depiction of the Civil War memorial on the Iowa State Capitol grounds. The handle features Iowa’s proud state motto, “Our liberties we prize and our rights we will maintain,” a phrase incorporated into the state seal, along with a Native American figure marked “Hawkeye,” honoring Iowa’s well known nickname, the Hawkeye State. With its patriotic motto, historic monument imagery, and early souvenir silver charm, this spoon beautifully captures Iowa’s civic pride, frontier memory, and remembrance of the Iowans who served in the Civil War.
