This sterling silver spoon is rich with references to Florida. Its flat-faced handle, which angles downward at the end, bears the raised inscription “Miami Biscayne Bay, Florida.” The bowl displays an image of the Cape Florida Lighthouse, dating to 1825, near Key Biscayne, along with the words “The old Florida Cape Light.” On the reverse side of the bowl appears an imagined profile of Osceola (1804–1838), the Seminole leader who resisted the United States during the Second Seminole War (1835–1842). This spoon has a beautiful antique patina and would make a lovely addition to any collection.
