A gorgeous petite spoon ring featuring Hollyhock blooms that was lovingly handcrafted from an antique sterling silver spoon. Hollyhocks, scientifically known as Alcea, are celebrated for their tall spires of large, colorful blooms that symbolize ambition and fertility. These striking perennials bring a vertical element to gardens with their impressive height and range of vibrant colors, historically used to decorate medieval gardens and still adored in modern landscapes for their bold, dramatic presence. This was originally and antique sterling silver spoon made by Reed and Barton as part of their Harlequin Series. This ring would make a lovely gift for yourself or someone you cherish!
This ring is made from a vintage sterling silver spoon, 925, nickel-free. This ring will be adjusted to the size you request but it can easily be tightened or loosened at home should you want a different fit. As these are antique items, there may be minor wear and tear from its past life. Some rings may have engravings or markings. We do not offer any customization or marking removal at this time.
Spoon rings originated in 17th-century England. In those days, flatware was highly prized as it was made from solid silver and highly stylized and decorated in an heirloom manner. Popular lore explains that servants, unable to afford to buy 'proper' engagement rings would steal a flatware piece from their master's home. They would shape it into a ring and give it to their beloved for a marriage proposal. Thus, the earliest spoon rings served as symbols of love and commitment, in defiance of strict social and economic barriers.
