A sterling Plymouth Rock ring! The year 1620 is celebrated for the landing of the Mayflower at Plymouth, marking the beginning of a significant chapter in American history. Plymouth became one of the first successful colonial settlements in New England, symbolizing perseverance, faith, and the pursuit of freedom. This ring would make a lovely gift for the historian in your family!
This ring is made from a vintage sterling silver spoon, 925, nickel-free. This ring will be adjusted to the size you request but it can easily be tightened or loosened at home should you want a different fit. As these are antique items, there may be minor wear and tear from its past life. Some rings may have engravings or markings. We do not offer any customization or marking removal at this time.
Spoon rings originated in 17th-century England. In those days, flatware was highly prized as it was made from solid silver and highly stylized and decorated in an heirloom manner. Popular lore explains that servants, unable to afford to buy 'proper' engagement rings would steal a flatware piece from their master's home. They would shape it into a ring and give it to their beloved for a marriage proposal. Thus, the earliest spoon rings served as symbols of love and commitment, in defiance of strict social and economic barriers.
