Detailed Chrysanthemums bloom on this Art Nouveau-style ring that was crafted from a Manchester spoon made in the early 1900s. A white chrysanthemum is a symbol of loyalty and devoted love. In general, chrysanthemums are believed to represent happiness, love, longevity, and joy. This piece would make an excellent gift for the flower or nature lover in your life!
This ring is made from a vintage sterling silver spoon, 925, nickel-free. This ring will be adjusted to the size you request but it can easily be tightened or loosened at home should you want a different fit. As these are antique items, there may be minor wear and tear from its past life. Some rings may have engravings or markings. We do not offer any customization or marking removal at this time.
Spoon rings originated in 17th-century England. In those days, flatware was highly prized as it was made from solid silver and highly stylized and decorated in an heirloom manner. Popular lore explains that servants, unable to afford to buy 'proper' engagement rings would steal a flatware piece from their master's home. They would shape it into a ring and give it to their beloved for a marriage proposal. Thus, the earliest spoon rings served as symbols of love and commitment, defying strict social and economic barriers.
