A beautiful vintage rose ring! The original pattern was made in the early 1900s by Shiebler (called "American Beauty") and depicts a lovely bouquet of roses at the top with delicate designs down the sides. Roses, known scientifically as Rosa, are celebrated for their exquisite beauty and complex symbolism, representing love, honor, and devotion across various cultures. These iconic flowers vary widely in color, each conveying its own unique meaning: red for romantic love, yellow for friendship, white for purity, and pink for admiration. Historically, roses have been revered in art, literature, and ceremonies, embodying a blend of spiritual significance and earthly pleasure, making them a universal symbol of passion and elegance. This ring would make a special gift for someone you hold dear.
This ring is made from a vintage sterling silver spoon, 925, nickel-free. This ring will be adjusted to the size you request but it can easily be tightened or loosened at home should you want a different fit. As these are antique items, there may be minor wear and tear from its past life. Some rings may have engravings or markings. We do not offer any customization or marking removal at this time.
Spoon rings originated in 17th-century England. In those days, flatware was highly prized as it was made from solid silver and high stylized and decorated in an heirloom manner. Popular lore explains that servants, unable to afford to buy 'proper' engagement rings would steal a flatware piece from their master's home. They would shape it into a ring and give it to their beloved for a marriage proposal. Thus, the earliest spoon rings served as symbols of love and commitment, in defiance of strict social and economic barriers.
